Irish seascape oil painting | Sailing towards Mussenden | Polly Gribben

I am always fascinated by sailing and would love to have learned the craft.  From a boat you get a whole different perspective of the land.  I wanted to convey the feeling of movement and the lilt of the sea in this painting, with the eye fixed on a distant shore.  You can just make out a mini Mussenden with the headlands of Downhill and Benone beyond.  Often you will see the light hitting just between.  Portstewart strand is off to the left.
