Irish landscape oil painting | Where peace comes dropping slow | Polly Gribben

This 60x60cm oil painting is one of the largest I have ever painted in oil.  The title of course has a nod to Yeat's poem 'The Lake Isle of Innisfree'.  He had a yearning for his homeland and for the peace he would find there.  I find real solace in being out in the landscape, seeing the horizon stretch ahead of me and the vast sky above me.  It helps to have the warmth of the sun on your back and the sun is giving all the warmth in this painting.
